NOTE: Why the long lead times? The reason is that the

preparation of good food and fine watches cannot be

rushed! A Rufus Gerard watch is a complex precision

instrument as well as a luxury item of the highest

quality, NOT a mass-produced item assembled from

low cost, widely available parts. Each watch requires a

significant amount of time, expert craftsmanship, and

the finest materials, plus exhaustive testing using

state of the art high-precision equipment.

Traditional Luxury, Precision Movement.

EXCEPTIONALLY FINE MECHANICAL WRISTWATCHES.

Luxury timepieces from Rufus Gerard. Very rare.

Rufus Gerard. A distinguished Canadian name in the Swiss-dominated global watch industry. A name found only on a few high-end, luxury, mechanical watches, each crafted and assembled by highly skilled, experienced and meticulous watchmakers, not by efficient robots on an assembly line in a factory.

Some of the most famous Swiss watch manufacturers produce watches in quantities of several hundred thousand each year. But with Rufus Gerard, each model is produced in a limited edition of somewhere between 50 to 500 watches only, and we introduce no more than six new models a year. Why so few watches?

Well, to produce each watch, many months and hundreds of extremely precise tasks are required. Unlike mass produced watches, top end luxury watches demand tight tolerance levels and painstakingly hand-finished movements and cases. A careless mistake at any stage, such as deforming the delicate hairspring or improperly finishing the rotor, could render a watch movement useless.

The end result of this attention to quality? One of the world’s finest watches, in very limited quantities. A watch that is at once thoroughly satisfying to wear and a collectible investment.

For collectors and horologists, of course, Rufus Gerard watches are well known and highly desirable, but you don’t have to be a watch expert to savor the unique experience of owning one of these prime examples of watchmaking excellence. On your wrist, a Rufus Gerard watch always feels solid, tells time accurately, and makes a strongly positive statement about your style and refinement.

Our Lacus Temporis model, in particular, often attracts the attention and admiration of people nearby, because while it has a brilliant finish and and is constantly catching the light, its appearance is one of sophistication, and is in no way gaudy or cheap. From our experience, whenever a bystander takes a closer look, it always causes the person to be fascinated by the attention to detail and craftsmanship.

Rufus Gerard watches incorporate top rank, high precision movements manufactured by Seiko Instruments (SII), the absolute and unchallenged leader in luxury mechanical watch movements in Japan, and right up there among the high-end watch movement manufacturers worldwide. Their movements are used in Credor and Grand Seiko watches, among the most expensive watches in Japan, many of which are unavailable outside the country. Internationally, these watch movements are widely respected and are increasingly acknowledged to equal or surpass Swiss watches in the same price bracket.

Yet, until their collaboration with Rufus Gerard, these highly regarded top end SII movements had not been available in any watches outside the Seiko Group brands. Now, as the first top-end luxury brand outside Japan to offer these movements, the Rufus Gerard Watch Company of Canada brings these precious watches to you in small limited editions.

The decisive lines of the bold designs, a collaboration between Japanese and Canadian designers, the use of the most excellent luxury materials (including, for example, extremely beautiful strap leather from legally farmed crocodiles in Papua New Guinea), the incorporation of extremely high precision technology (produced entirely in Japan, from miniscule hairsprings to lubricating oils), and the fine hand-and-loupe detailing of movement components make each hand-crafted Rufus Gerard watch very valuable indeed.

Rufus Gerard’s new LUNAR series features eight rare and distinctive designs, which are being rolled out one at a time over three years, until December 2009. The first model, “Lacus Temporis”, may be ordered now, but only 350 of these limited edition, ultra-luxury watches will ever be produced. The second watch, “Sinus Amoris”, is a dress watch, timed for release on Valentine’s Day 2008.

Each watch is engraved with a unique serial number, and requires hundreds of detailed processes by highly qualified and experienced watchmakers during manufacture. The demand for these watches is expected to escalate considerably over the next five years, as each model becomes less and less available.

Can a high-end watch from Canada hold its own against Swiss and German luxury watches? Savvy watch collectors already know that the finest watches from Japan are no worse and possibly better than their famous Swiss counterparts in the luxury watch industry, although the Germans are also a force to be reckoned with. These top end movements from Japan are modified and decorated by us to world class standards, and the level of quality, luxury and attention to detail found in a Rufus Gerard watch will be familiar to owners of watches in its price range.

It is a well kept secret that there are components in some famous luxury watches, even those from Switzerland, which are actually produced inexpensively in China. On the other hand, each of our watches is completely produced in quality-conscious Japan, down to the hairspring, dial and even the lubricants (while the crocodile may be legally farmed in Papua New Guinea, with no impact on endangered wild populations, the strap from its leather is produced in Japan). Production is carried out to the demanding specifications and under the fastidious control of Rufus Gerard, deploying highly qualified and experienced watchmakers. You would expect no less from a country known for its disciplined workers, capable of producing precision, high-performance, luxury automobiles such as Lexus and Infiniti.

Everyone ELSE is wearing a Rolex or Patek-Philippe. Make yours a Rufus Gerard, the Canadian watch...very rare, highly sophisticated and ultra-luxurious, incorporating the finest of Canadian design, world-class superior materials and some of the highest precision technology available today. Above all, owning and wearing a Rufus Gerard is deeply satisfying.
