The Rufus Gerard luxury watch brand was made possible by an international design collaboration between renowned Canadian artist Rufus Lin and the world class Shizukuishi Studio in Japan.

Manufacturing is carried out as part of a long-term business partnership between Kakkazan Innovations Inc. of Vancouver, Canada, parent company of the Rufus Gerard Watch Company, and Seiko Instruments Inc. of Morioka, Japan.

Kakkazan Innovations Inc is a broad-based corporate group founded as a federal corporation in Canada in 2000 and currently employing over 40 people. The company is involved in various businesses, including technical translation, bridging Japan and English-speaking countries, and it has offices in Vancouver, Tokyo and Singapore.

In its unique position as Canada’s first serious luxury watch brand  (other than the house brands of jewellers), the Rufus Gerard Watch Company is driven by a clear vision of delivering beautiful, rare and satisfying timepieces to those who appreciate such things.

The majority of luxury mechanical watches today use the famous ETA (Valjoux and Lemania movements included) automatic movements from Switzerland, or less commonly, in-house movements from Switzerland and Germany, but Rufus Gerard is the first luxury brand outside Japan that has obtained the right to use the highest grade of luxury mechanical watch movements from Seiko Instruments. Until now, such movements have been featured only in the extremely high end luxury watches in Japan, such as Grand Seiko and Credor, costing tens of thousands of dollars and often not available outside the country.

Top-end luxury watches with high precision, reliable, non-Swiss movements are very rare. As with luxury automobiles, Japan and Germany are perhaps the only two countries other than Switzerland that clearly have the technological capability to produce such intricate mechanical movements with reliable quality. Rufus Gerard watches incorporate the best Japanese precision technology available today.
